What an Assessment is
The Assessment requires learners to apply the information they’ve learnt in a course to evaluate their own environment.
Currently, only two courses include assessments: Display Screen Equipment (DSE) and Health and Safety for Homeworkers
For instance, DSE assessment requires learners to answer a series of questions to assess whether their workstation is set up optimally, based on the guidance provided in the course.
After completing the training course and test, you will be prompted to complete the course assessment.
- If you agree, the assessment will open immediately.
- You can choose to return to the assessment at a later time.
- Please note that the assessment is a mandatory part of the course.
How it works
Step 1. Start your assessment
To open a course assessment from Atlas Dashboard:
- Click the Assessments tab on the menu bar at the top of the page to show your assessments.
- Choose your assessment from the list and click Start new assessment.
After opening your assessment, the assessment status changes to In progress. However, if your training administrator created the assessment for you, instead of it automatically starting after a course, it will have a status of In progress.
Step 2. Assessment in progress
What are the question and how to answer them
In the Assessment you are asked questions related to your training. Responses are recorded and the system provides advice on how to address any issues based on your answers.
To complete the form, select Yes, No, or N/A for each question to indicate your response.
Note You can save your responses at any time and resume the assessment later.
How Assessment form is organised
Assessments are organised into topics. Outline lists the topics in the assessment, provides links to each topic, and shows the topic status. Topics that have all required responses and comments are ticked. Topics that contain unresolved issues without comments show an alert symbol and a counter.
What to do with issues
If your answer highlights an issue, the topic will display an alert symbol and an advice bar will show some information to help you resolve the issue:
- If the suggested information resolves the issue
- Optional: Click the Add a comment button and tType your comments.
- Click Send and accept as resolved.
- If the suggested information doesn't resolve the issue
- Click Add a comment to open the comment box.
- Type your comment explaining why the issue is unresolved.
- Click Send.
- Click Add a comment to open the comment box.
Note There are no right or wrong answers. You also don't have to resolve issues if the suggested recommendations do not work for you, but you have to leave a comment why the issue is unresolved. It is then the administrator's responsibility to offer solutions to solve raised issues.
I answered all questions, what's next?
- Make sure that there are no alert symbols in the Outline anymore: you either resolved them or left a comment why they are are unresolved.
- Save your responses and exit:
- Scroll up to the top of the page and click Exit.
- Click Exit assessment.
Note If your assessment includes issues that require the attention of your Training Administrator, the status will remain In Progress until the administrator resolves them. There is nothing further you need to do.
Once the administrator resolves the issues, the status will change to Completed.
Step 3. Assessment completed
In this phase there are no issues, the assessment is archived and cannot be changed.
To view completed assessments, see How to view completed assessments.
