How to set the course Pass mark

Modified on Mon, 23 Dec, 2024 at 1:30 PM

The Pass Mark defines the percentage score required to pass a course test. By default, the Pass Mark is set to 60%.

This setting can be configured globally (to all courses) or for individual courses. When both are set, the individual course settings override the global ones.

NB: the Pass Mark can be changed but it won't retroactively impact the completion status of users who have already completed the course.

FAQ

1. What if a user doesn't achieve a set pass mark?

Their status is marked as "Failed," and they are given unlimited attempts to pass the course.

2. Can I change a pass mark after the course has been assigned to users?

Yes, the pass mark can be changed at any time.

3. What happens if a pass mark is changed after some users have already completed the course?

Changing the pass mark does not affect users who have already completed the course.

  • If the pass mark is increased, users who previously passed with a lower mark will still retain their passing status.
  • Similarly, if the pass mark is lowered, users who previously failed will not retroactively pass, even if their score now meets the new requirement.

4. Can I edit enrolment method for several courses at a time (in bulk)?

Yes, to learn more, see Bulk editing course settings.
