Courses can be set as either mandatory or optional. Mandatory courses are required for users to complete as part of their training, often to meet compliance or organisational requirements. Optional courses, are available for users to take at their discretion, allowing them to explore additional learning opportunities based on their interests or professional development needs.

How to set a course as mandatory/optional
Step 1. Request the feature to be added to your account
Submit a support ticket requesting to enable enrolment types for your account.
Step 2. Enable the feature in your account
- Click the Settings tab in the side menu or the ⚙ Settings icon in the top-right corner.
- In the General section click Global settings.
- In the TRAINING section click on Enrolment type dropdown menu and choose Mandatory or Optional.
- Click Save Changes.
Step 3. Set up enrolment type for a course(s)
- Click the Settings tab in the side menu or the ⚙ Settings icon in the top-right corner.
- In the Courses section click Course settings.
- In the GENERAL section click on Enrolment type dropdown menu and choose Mandatory or Optional.
- Click Save Changes.
NB: By default, all course are set as Optional.
How can users tell which courses are mandatory and which are optional?
Below you can see an example of the Training Suite with two courses set to Mandatory, one to Optional. The two headings only appear when at least one course has been set to Mandatory, otherwise it will look as it does now, without these new headings.
