How to change a sign-in method of an existing user

Sign-in methods and available modifications

There are two available user sign-in methods:

  • Email sign-in
  • Username sign-in

Once a user has been created, an admin can modify the sign-in method in the user's profile.


Note: an admin can change the sign-in method from "username" to "email" ONLY.

To change the sign-in method from "email" to "username", please submit a support ticket.

  1. Go to your Admin Atlas page.
  2. Click Users in the left-side menu to open the Users page.
  3. Use the search bar to find the user you want to edit.
  4. Click the three-dot menu {…} at the end of the user's row and select View/Edit User.
  5. In the new window, scroll down to the Atlas access section.
  6. You can change the sign-in method from "no email" to "has email" only*. To do this, toggle Has email to "Yes."
  7. Enter the user's email address.
  8. Click Save details to update the user profile with the new sign-in method.
  9. Once saved, the user will immediately receive an automated email with a login link.

    If you need to change the sign-in method from "has email" to "no email," please submit a support ticket.
