What is Course Creator?

Course Creator is our new eLearning tool that enables businesses to quickly transform existing documents into professional, interactive training courses — without the need for design or technical expertise.

It saves time, reduces costs, and empowers anyone to create high-quality content in minutes. All your courses live within your existing LMS, providing a unified training ecosystem that simplifies reporting and improves learner adoption.

Who can access Course Creator?

Course Creator is a premium feature that can be added on to your existing contract. All you need to qualify is have an active subscription with us

⚠️ This feature is not available by default and you need to request it. Contact your Client Development Manager or submit a support ticket to request the feature.

What type of content can I upload?

You can upload the following file types:

  • Word documents (.doc, .docx)

  • PDFs (.pdf)

  • PowerPoint presentations (.ppt, .pptx)

The maximum upload size is 500MB.

⚠️ Images (.jpg, .png) cannot be processed by Course Creator. The tool does not support images as either illustrative collateral or as sources of text. Any text contained within an image will not be read or extracted

What presentation types of custom courses are available?

Course Creator supports two presentation types:

  • Text Based course —  AI-transformed and structured to meet e-learning best practices. Supports all available file types.

  • PowerPoint Course — Your PowerPoint slide designs exactly as you created them. Supports .ppt and .pptx files.

⚠️ If your course must include images, illustrations, or infographics, we recommend creating it in PowerPoint and adding your visuals directly to the slides. Then choose export "PowerPoint Course" as the presentation type to ensure all images remain intact for your learners.

What is the minimum word count for uploads?

A document must contain at least 500 words to be processed by Course Creator.

For optimal results, we recommend documents between 1,500 and 2,000 words. The tool performs best when the content is detailed and specific to your intended training subject.

Typical use cases include turning internal policies or procedures into training courses. We suggest uploading the entire document to ensure full coverage.

⚠️ If your document doesn't have enough words, you’ll receive an email notification with "Document is too small to process" message.

What does it mean if your course fails to generate?

If you have received an error message to say that your document is too small, this means that your file does not meet our 500-word minimum word count; please increase the word count and re-upload the file.

⚠️ To find your word count for PowerPoint files, please navigate to File -> Properties -> Statistics and you can view it there.

Can I create a test?

Yes! When uploading your document, you can choose to include a test at the end of your course.

Course Creator automatically scans your content and generates a multiple-choice test, which you can review and customise before publishing.

Can I edit a course?

Yes — after you create a course, our AI will transform and structure your content to meet eLearning best practices. You can freely edit this AI-generated output directly in the course editor before publishing it to your LMS.

If you need to make changes after a course has been published, you have two options:

  • For minor edits (e.g. wording of paragraphs):
Create a copy of the course, make the necessary adjustments, and publish the updated version. This approach keeps learner progress on the original intact.

  • For major edits (e.g. course structure):
Update your source document and create a new course from the Custom Courses library. This allows the AI to re-structure the content from scratch for a fully refreshed version.

This approach helps retain learner progress on the original version while introducing your updates.

How long does it take to create a course?

Processing time can vary from a few minutes up to around 30 minutes, depending on the size of your course and the current system load. You can safely close the Course Creator window while your course is being generated — the process will continue to run in the background.

Once your course is ready, you’ll receive an email notification confirming its completion.

Can I assign custom courses using segments or smart enrolments?

Yes. Custom courses created with Course Creator integrate fully with your LMS tools — including segments, smart enrolments, and assignment workflows — just like standard iHasco courses.

Do learners receive certificates?

Yes, certificates can be issued for training created in Course Creator (if enabled in your LMS).

Please note:

  • Third-party accreditation logos and learning objectives will not appear on certificates.

Will custom (AI-generated) courses appear in reports?

Yes. All AI-generated courses are automatically included in your reporting dashboards and exports, unless you manually filter them out.

Will learners be notified when enrolled in a custom course?

Yes. Notifications for Course Creator content work the same way as standard iHasco training. You      can view and amend your Messaging preferences in the Settings area of the LMS.

How many courses can be created?

The annual limit is 50 courses per account. This limit applies to the total number of courses created within a 12-month period, regardless of whether any are later deleted.

Please note that deleting a course does not restore a slot — each course creation uses AI processing resources and therefore counts toward your yearly quota.

How do I use Course Creator?

For step-by-step instructions please see Course Creator: How to use.

Error: "PowerPoint course failure due to an embedded video". How to troubleshoot?

If this message appears, it means we were unable to generate a PowerPoint Course because the uploaded PowerPoint file contains an embedded video, which is not supported.

Solution: Remove the embedded video from the PowerPoint file, save it, and reupload the updated version.

⚠️ A Text Based Course will still be created as long as all other requirements are met (e.g., the 500-word minimum).
